The rapid development of technology in the global era has created various innovations with significant economic value while also presenting challenges in terms of legal protection. This study aims to analyze the forms of legal protection for technological innovation through Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), identify the role of IPR in providing legal certainty for innovators, and examine the challenges of IPR protection in responding to technological development and globalization. This research applies a normative legal research method with a literature study approach. The research data are derived from laws and regulations, international agreements, books, scientific journals, and relevant documents related to IPR protection and technological innovation. The results show that technological innovation can be protected through various IPR, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and industrial designs, according to the characteristics of the protected object. At the international level, the TRIPS Agreement, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and various mechanisms under the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) play an important role in supporting cross-border IPR protection. However, such protection still faces several challenges, including technological development that progresses faster than legal reform, the territorial nature of IPR, regulatory differences among countries, and the complexity of infringements in the digital environment. This study concludes that effective legal protection for technological innovation requires adaptive regulations, consistent law enforcement, integrated IPR management strategies, and international cooperation. Such protection is essential to provide legal certainty, promote innovation and technology transfer, and enhance competitiveness in the global economy.
