Abstract

This study aims to analyze the challenges of business legal compliance in responding to global dynamics and to identify adaptive strategies that companies can implement in the digital era. Technological developments, cross-border transactions, the use of personal data, artificial intelligence, electronic systems, and increasing dependence on third parties have expanded the scope of legal compliance obligations that business actors must fulfill. This study employs a normative legal research method using a literature review approach by examining laws and regulations, legal literature, scientific articles, books, and other relevant sources related to business compliance, digital transformation, data protection, and corporate governance. The findings indicate that the main challenges of business legal compliance in the digital era include regulatory fragmentation across countries, data and privacy protection, cybersecurity, consumer protection, artificial intelligence governance, supply chain compliance, and rapidly changing regulations. To address these challenges, companies need to adopt adaptive compliance strategies through regulatory mapping, compliance risk assessment, the implementation of compliance by design, stronger data governance, third-party oversight, the use of regulatory intelligence, continuous monitoring, and the development of a strong compliance culture within the organization. Therefore, legal compliance functions not only as an instrument to prevent violations and sanctions, but also as part of a company’s strategy to build trust, enhance organizational resilience, strengthen corporate governance, and maintain business sustainability and competitiveness amid the development of the global digital economy.
