STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI DALAM RESOLUSI KONFLIK KELUARGA HARMONIS: STUDI FENOMENOLOGI PADA KELUARGA HARMONIS DI DESA MARONGE KECAMATAN MARONGE

Abstract

This study aims to analyze family communication patterns in resolving domestic conflicts and building family harmony using a symbolic interactionism approach. This research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The study was conducted in Maronge Village, Maronge District, Sumbawa Regency, involving 15 informants consisting of married couples, community leaders, and local religious figures. The informants were selected purposively based on the consideration that they were directly involved in family social interactions in Maronge Village, thus possessing relevant information related to the issues under study. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation to gain an in-depth understanding of the social conditions of families in Maronge Village. Data analysis was conducted using George Herbert Mead’s Symbolic Interactionism theory, which emphasizes three main concepts: mind, self, and society. The findings of this study showed that conflict within families is a natural occurrence, but it can be managed in a healthy manner through open communication, emotional control, mutual respect, and emotional support. Positive symbolic interactions, both verbal and non-verbal, construct shared meanings of togetherness, safety, and comfort within the family. Symbols such as gentle language, empathy, attention, and physical touch are collectively interpreted as expressions of affection and acceptance. Therefore, open communication and consistent symbolic interaction play a crucial role in creating harmonious and sustainable family relationships.
