STRATEGI ADAPTASI SOSIAL MASYARAKAT TERHADAP KELANGKAAN GAS LPG 3 KG: ANALISIS SOSIOLOGIS DI DESA PERNEK

Abstract

The scarcity of 3 kg LPG gas is a social phenomenon that has a broad impact on people’s lives, especially in rural areas. This study aims to analyze the patterns of social adaptation among communities and identify the factors that influence communities in determining adaptation strategies to LPG gas scarcity. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research informants were determined by purposive sampling, consisting of 4 housewives, 4 MSMEs actors, and 2 LPG agents in Pernek Village, Moyo Hulu Sub-District, Sumbawa District. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The theory used as an analytical tool is Talcott Parsons' Structural Functionalism theory through the AGIL concept (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, Latent Pattern Maintenance). The results of this study showed that the Pernek Village community has good social adaptation capabilities in facing LPG scarcity through the utilization of social capital, local wisdom, and community solidarity. The Pernek Village community applied four main patterns of social adaptation, namely: (1) utilization of alternative fuels (firewood, charcoal, electric stoves, magic com), (2) borrowing and sharing gas cylinders among neighbors, (3) collective purchasing and seeking supplies outside the village, and (4) rearrangement of consumption and production patterns. Analysis using Parsons' AGIL theory shows that the four functions of the social system operate in an integrated manner in shaping community social adaptation strategies.
